10th September 2019 : Postdoc & tenure-track faculty positions – U. of Michigan

Dear friends and colleagues,

I am writing to let you know about several new opportunities at the
University of Michigan. Would you please bring these open positions to
the attention of any qualified young scientists you know?

1) The LSA collegiate fellows program
 and
thePresident’s fellows program  are
two separate initiatives, each of which seek to recruit outstanding
young researchers in the natural and social sciences and
engineering whose research, teaching, and/or service will contribute to
diversity and equal opportunity in higher education. The University of
Michigan views these postdoctoral fellowships as providing an
exceptional opportunity to recruit potential new faculty to the
University by offering the possibility of _either a postdoc alone or a
combined postdoc and tenure track faculty appointment_.   (Note, in
particular, that both of these programs are appropriate for scientists
who have completed or will soon complete a first postdoc and are [close
to] ready to move on to an independent faculty position; when merited,
we have in the past been able to offer a regular, tenure-track position
through these programs, usually combined with a brief initial period
when the hire is officially a postdoc and has reduced teaching
responsibilities.)

2) The Center for the Study of Complex Systems is searching for
tenure-track faculty in complex systems science; this search will lead
to a joint appointment between complex systems and another academic
department or school at the University of Michigan.  More details can be
found in the job ad
.

Please note the relatively _early deadlines_ for all of these searches.

Yours,
  David
