About Cargèse
- Cargèse is a medium-sized village along the western coast of Corsica, between Ajaccio and Porto. It is directly on the sea, however very close to the mountains, covering most of Corsica.
- Climate: The average (night & day) temperature at the time of the school is between 22-33°C. Please bring suitable summer clothes.

Travel information
- The airport closest to the conference site is Ajaccio Napoléon Bonaparte airport, 30 km south of Cargèse. At the time of the School you may fly with direct flights with Air France (Paris Orly, Lyon, Nice, Marseille), EasyJet (Paris CDG), Air Corsica (Paris Orly, Lyon, Marseille, Nice). While Paris and Lyon may be suitable hubs for those connecting with other flights, notice that Paris Orly and Paris CDG airports are far from each other. Thus, Lyon and Paris CDG are probably the only two convenient hubs.
- Boat: you may also decide to take the boat from Marseille (company SNCM), Toulon and Nice (company Corsica Ferries), overnight.
- Participants will be picked-up at the harbour and the airport on August 22. Transportation back to Ajaccio will be organized. Details will be provided during the School.
- Although we will take care of your transfer, you may notice that the transfer may be done with public transportation from the Bus station of Ajaccio (same place as the Harbour), with two buses per day with company SASAIB. See the timetable.
- Welcoming: All participants reaching Cargèse with the shuttle buses of the School will be welcomed by the IESC staff. You will be taken directly to your location of accommodation, school site or Cargèse village. The opening session is scheduled at 9:00 am on Tuesday August 23.
Conference site
The school site is 1km east of the center of the village, and may be reach walking alongside the road and then on a small path. See map. Bring suitable walking shoes. In case you need to walk on this way at night time, we strongly recommend you to bring a light with you.
Internet connexion is available at the school site (WiFi, plus a few computers).
