Presentation
The discussion meeting, funded by CECAM Ile de France, will be focused on the fundamentals and applications of how matter reacts to thermodynamically applied gradients. Particular, but not exclusive emphasis will be on thermal and osmotic effects. We will try to make the connection between the molecular and the macroscopic scale of continuous theories. Finally, we want to put these two aspects in the broader perspective of thermodynamic gradients by following the example of multi-scale approaches successfully developed in the case of electrochemical and mechanical forcing.
